How I: Achieved Khloe Kardashian Inspired Ombre`

I have always been obsessed with Khloe Kardashian’s Ombre` hair!

Although I want to eventually achieve the blonde ombre` she currently has,

And also Jessie James Decker

it is a long and slow process and I would much rather pace myself rather than completely killing my hair!

Anyway, here is the outcome of my Khloe hair inspiration!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

1. BLEACH

Because my hair was DARK brown (almost black) I went for an extra strength bleach. The bleach I ALWAYS reach for is Clairol BW 2. Purchased at Sally Beauty Supply
  2. DEVELOPER

I used Salon Care 30 Volume Extra Life Creme Developer purchased at Sally Beauty Supply

TIP:
If you are trying to lighten your hair, go for a HIGHER number developer. If you are trying to darken your hair, go for a LOWER number developer.

3. DARK HAIR DYE
(For my roots, I'm naturally a blonde, go figure)

I used Revlon Colorsilk in the shade #27 Deep Rich Brown. This is a cheap box dye, (around $4 depending where you buy it) and it is ammonia-free so it's less damaging to your hair! I purchased this at Walgreens

4. MIXING BRUSH

Purchased at Sally Beauty Supply

5. MIXING BOWL (OR TUBAWARE, ANY BOWL!)

Purchased at SallyBeauty Supply

6. ALUMINUM FOIL

 (purchase anywhere)
7. HAIR EXTENSIONS (OPTIONAL)
I used Bellami Hair Extensions 160g 20" Mochachino Brown set, which can be purchased {here}.Use my code "kayla" at checkout for $5.00 off your order!

160g 20" Mochachino Brown

This is what they looked like clipped in my hair

8. PURPLE TONING SHAMPOO

This will remove any brassy, yellow, or orange tones from your hair! I used Clairol Shimmer Lights for Blondes & Silver purchased at Sally Beauty Supply

9. RECONSTRUCTING CONDITIONER

I used Generic JOICO K-PAK purchased at Sally Beauty Supply. This adds protein back to the bleach-damaged hair. It honestly works WONDERS.

STEP BY STEP

1.)
I applied the brown dye to my roots, I let it sit for 30 minutes, then wash it out and let my hair air dry. (You can do this the night before to cut the drying time)

2.)
Following the directions on your bleach packet, mix your bleach and developer in your mixing bowl.

3.)
I clipped my extensions in, as I would normally (ofcourse extensions are optional),
and began painting on the bleach where I wanted it lighter. I started at the tips and worked my way up, to give the ombre` effect.

4.)
I checked to see the color every 10 minutes and ended up leaving it on for a total of 45 minutes.

5.)
I washed it out, applied my purple toning shampoo and left that on for 5 minutes. Following my shampoo I applied my reconstructing conditioner and left that on for 5 minutes also. I towel dried my hair, and applied a dime size amount of the same reconstructor and let my hair air dry.

6.)
My hair wasn't at the desired color, so I went ahead and repeated the same process, and left it on for an additional 45 minutes, washed, and air dried.

7.)
Because I didn't want to completely ruin my hair with bleach, I was left with the color of Khloe's caramel ombre`.

I don't recommend bleaching your hair more than 1 or 2 times in a day, give your hair atleast 2 weeks to recover before bleaching again!

Personally, I will not add any bleach to my hair until a month at the very least, so I can allow my hair time to recover. I will be using my reconstructing conditioner every 3 days.

And......... Voila
